1. Will Hatch have a leasing criteria?
Yes. Hatch intends to cater to the needs of social and environmental entrepreneurs whose enterprises are mission-focused. Hatch will offer space to social entrepreneurs/enterprises and the professional firms and services that they need (i.e. legal, finance, marketing, banking, etc).
2. When will Hatch be ready for tenants?
The current schedule shows us opening in early 2013.
3. What will Springboard do throughout 2012 as Hatch ramps up?
Springboard will be intensively focused on finding and acquiring a building that fits the criteria of the ecosystem we are curating and designing. We are also building programs and partners so Hatch will open with a full complement of available resources. On the education side, Springboard will launch a series of Re:Forums, designed from the topics that we have seen rise to the top at ReVV11 and our monthly Social Innovation Forums. Sign up for our newsletter for the launch details of the Re:Forums.
4. Why would Springboard, a non-profit, own and develop a building?
Building ownership builds in financial sustainability and a surplus which allows us to offer the programs and resources entrepreneurs need. Ownership allows us to design it to serve entrepreneurs through innovative use of space, rental flexibility, and programs.
